Care & Cleaning
Ashtari gladly cares for and maintains your rugs. We clean your carpets in the traditional Oriental way, treating them with gentleness to remove sand and dust.
We recommend having your carpets manually cleaned every 4 to 5 years. Incorrect cleaning can result in color bleeding, warped, or rippled carpets.
What should I do if I spill something on my carpet?
Avoid making hasty decisions to save the carpet. For everyday stains, the use of detergents (soaps) is usually unnecessary. Plain tap water or sparkling water is sufficient in most cases. NEVER use salt, as it fixes the dye in the carpet, making it nearly impossible to remove the stain.
Stain Guide: Step-by-step plan to isolate the stain and limit damage:
- NEVER rub, only BLOT with a clean cotton or paper towel.
- Be cautious with excessive and hot water. A small amount of lukewarm water is enough.
- To remove odors, add a minimal amount of organic soap to the water if necessary.
- Prevent rings on your carpet by always working from the outside to the inside.
- For thicker substances (pastes, vomit, chewing gum, etc.), scrape off excess residue with a spoon or blunt knife from the outside to the inside, then repeat steps 1 to 4.
- Then place a clean cotton or paper towel over the stain to absorb any remaining liquids.
- If the liquid has completely seeped through the carpet, we recommend placing enough towels under the carpet to absorb all moisture.
- Finally, check after a few minutes if the stain has been removed and the area is dry (recto/verso).
- If the stain still feels hard or sticky after the above steps, we recommend contacting our customer service or local specialist.
- Avoid color bleeding and test the color first with a slightly damp cloth in an inconspicuous area. Be cautious with non-colorfast carpets or colors that are naturally difficult to fix (red, blue, pink, etc.).
- Be careful when using a hairdryer. In some cases, this can cause more damage and increase the cost of repair.
We advise against superficial cleaning of carpets with special vacuum cleaners. This will not benefit the carpet in the long run and may contribute to premature wear and tear. We always recommend a deep cleaning of your carpet, starting with the removal of all dust and sand.
